The latest big eBay buzzword is BLOG and
a lot of great things are happening for some
U.S. PowerSellers who have already
grabbed their free Blogs from eBay and use
them to promote their eBay auction and
shop listings. It's all free, it's a great way to
have your eBay listings reach the top of
search engines outside of eBay. This means
whenever people search on Google or
Yahoo, or other search engines, for items
such as you are selling on eBay, your eBay
products can easily rank way above major
international stores selling much the same
products.
Despite all the hot news emerging about
blogs and their profit potential, the whole
concept remains something of a mystery for
many people. To clarify, in a nutshell, a
blog, short for 'web log', is very similar to
everyday web sites, but there is one very
great benefit blogs have over most other
web site types - you can create a blog and
publish it without ever designing a web page
or using html and never having to publish a
site yourself. The great feature of blogs is
that you just open one, choose a user name
and password, type messages into the
appropriate 'posting' sections, then press to
'Publish' and your site uploads in seconds.
But there's also bad news here; I have tried
for at least six weeks to start my own eBay
blog and the site is constantly inaccessible -
try it yourself at: http://blogs.ebay.co.uk
But that mustn't stop you developing a blog
to supercharge your eBay business, and
there are many free and easy blogging
programs to use which you'll hear about in a
new report my publisher will be releasing in
the next few weeks.
In the next newsletter I'm covering Blogs in
general, and eBay blogging in particular,
with or without eBay's long-awaited free
blogs.
Watch out for the next issue and if you'd like
to ask questions about blogging which I can
take into account for the article, email me
mailto:avril@clippingsfactory.com with 'BLOG' in
the subject headline.
Happy Blogging!
Until next time,
Avril

EIGHT Collectable Dolls That Sell Well
on eBay by SydneyJohnston
***
From the beginning, eBay's primary growth
came from the collectibles market. There are
two basic models for eBay sales:
1. Currently available consumers goods.
This is a price-driven model, and although
smart sellers can earn above-average prices,
buyers are there looking for a bargain and
price is the #1 consideration.
2. Other buyers are collectors, looking for
one-of-a-kind unique items that they can't
locate elsewhere. Here, price isn't as
important as it is with consumer goods. The
power of this market is obvious because,
before eBay and the Internet, most collectors
were confined to a local market.
Dolls have always been big sellers as eBay
collectibles and eight of them are especially
strong sellers:
1. The Cabbage Patch Kids began in 1978
and are never 'sold'. They are 'born' at
BabylandGeneralHospital in Cleveland,
Georgia and proud parents pay an 'adoption
fee'. The Cabbage Patch Kids were the
greatest toy phenomenon of the later 20th
century. At one time, it was a common sight
to see grown women shopping and lunching
with their babies in hand. In restaurants, the
Kids had their own chairs and were always
appropriately dressed for the weather.
2. Precious Moments began in the early
1970s when creator SamButcher began
drawing the endearing teardrop-eye children
as gifts for family and friends. Today Sam's
Precious Moments artwork is among the
most recognized in the world, and eBay
prices reflect this popularity.
3. Madame Alexander dolls were created in
1923. These beloved dolls range from
CharlieBrown to babies and children to
elegant dressed women to glamorous and
famous women like GretaGarbo and Judy
Garland. With all the varieties of costumes,
a single doll can be a 1920's flapper as easily
as a member of the court of Louis XIV.
4. LeeMiddleton dolls, according to legend,
are so real in appearance that grown men
once sent for a rescue squad to save 'the
baby' from a locked car! Mistaken identity is
supposedly a frequent occurrence and the
dolls have been counted as 'passengers' on
airplanes and rescued from store countertops
to prevent the 'baby' from falling. As one
happy owner says, 'These dolls are so
lifelike it's uncanny.'
5. American Girl dolls are loved by millions
of little girls (and grown ups, too!) They are
not only from different times and places, but
are ethnically diverse: Felicity from colonial
Virginia; Josephina from the 1830's in New
Mexico; Kirsten is 'a pioneer girl of strength
and spirit growing up in Minnesota in 1854';
Addy is alive in the 1860's, having escaped
from slavery with her mother; Samantha is 'a
bright Victorian girl living with her wealthy
grandmother in 1904'; Kit is growing up in
1930s, during America's Great Depression;
Molly lives in the 1940's while her dad is
away at war; Kaya is a Nez Perce Indian
living in the northwest.
6. Hasbro dolls are one of the products of
the gigantic Hasbro company, who claim to
have been making toys for eight generations,
including famous games like Monopoly,
Scrabble and Clue.
7. Bratz dolls, unlike older dolls like
MadameAlexander and Cabbage Patch
Kids, have no long history as favorite toys
or collectibles. Nevertheless, their price has
astonished eBay sellers and the Bratz
collection was one of the 'super hits' of the
2003 holiday season and sales have been
strong ever since.
8. And, no surprise, Barbie is the best-
selling doll on eBay. Since Mattel has
recently announced that Ken and Barbie will
no longer be an 'item', dolls from the 'good
old days' when the name 'Barbie' was rarely
seen without 'Ken', will inevitably become
more valuable.
Anyone who loves and understands the doll
market, can do very well selling dolls on
eBay. They've been strong sellers for the 10
years eBay has been in existence and are
almost certain to remain popular for years to
come.

Finding The Right eBooks to Sell on eBay
by JohnThornhill
***
Member name has been chosen, payment
options have been arranged, and now you
are ready to sell on eBay. This might be
your first foray at eBay sales, or you might
just be ready for a new product. Either way
eBooks will surely help you make high
profits while keeping costs astoundingly
low. The best eBooks are the ones that the
most people want, and the fewest people
have for sale. Operating under this
assumption will help you make millions of
sales online each year, and keep you a step
ahead of all the competition.
The cheapest eBooks are free; at least that is
what people want you to think. The truth is
that most free eBooks have been widely
distributed, and thus do not help you master
your market niche completely enough to
make a ton of money. This doesn't mean
that free eBooks won't make you money, or
be a nice compliment to your sales library; it
just means that they aren't the best eBooks
to stock.
If an eBook is free there are a number of
reasons why it is free, understanding these
reasons can help you find valuable low cost
eBooks in the end. The free eBook is usually
given away in trade for an email address that
can be added to an affiliate list. This is
called an opt-in email list that will be used
to send you product offers in the future.
If a free eBook is available without having
to add your email address, chances are they
want to advertise the products, or services in
the eBook to you. This means that the
contents of the eBook while somewhat
valuable will be tainted by the blatant
advertising. This means that when you are
trying to resell said eBooks on eBay, they
won't command that high price you so
desperately need them to, instead they will
sell for pennies.
eBooks worth the most money are those that
are exclusive, or hard to find eBooks full of
information that can truly benefit the
readers. These eBooks are either self
written, freelance written, or purchased in
limited numbers from a copyright holder.
Finding these eBooks is a lot easier then you
think. All you need to do is decipher what
program online will offer you the most
amount of exclusive, or limited issue
eBooks at the lowest cost.
You can sign up for monthly memberships
to content supplier clubs, or you can pay per
document online. Typically to buy a niche
eBook with resale rights might cost you
between $50 and $300 or so. That being
said, you can charge $49 on eBay, and sell
10 copies a day for a year straight. The
numbers can be outstanding, and worthwhile
if you know what the public is looking for.
Another way to locate the highest demand
eBooks is to have them done from scratch.
First figure out a hot topic, next hire a
writer, third brand the eBook so it won't be
stolen, and sold without your permission.
Having a small eBook done, can greatly
enhance your credibility as a vendor on
eBay. Can you imagine putting the words,
'only available through me' on your listing?
This would help sales fly in, and keep your
eBook business profitable online for many
years to come.
